Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a natural athlete and loved playing athletic games. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her love of sport. Her talent was exemplified by receiving nearly every Feis awards for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. At age 14 She was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her love of classical theatre as well as operatic music was continued. However, this plan was later altered, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing a screen test of Maureen fascinated by her stunning eyes. Laughton changed the name of Maureen FitzSimons changed from Maureen FitzSimons, to "Maureen O'Hara" it was a shorter form of her name. It was just before Laughton cast her in Jamaica Inn. Maureen FitzSimons' subsequent film (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame - 1939) was scheduled to be shot in the studio of RKO Pictures in America under an agreement with Laughton. Maureen's contract with Laughton was acquired by RKO following this film became a huge success. Maureen was just 19 when she made her debut with Laughton in two films.
